Click the video below and answer the level appropriate questions: Spanish I - Bring a list of the Spanish words you recognize and their English meanings to our next class. What do you think these words have to do with love? What other Spanish words do you know that might work well in this song?
Spanish II - For our next class, answer as many of the questions from the song as you can. Also include possible responses to the statements the singer makes, i.e. Hola, buenos dias. (Hint: What would you say back?)
Spanish III - Using the melody of the song, write your own Spanish lyrics. Reference what you see in the video in what you say.
Wikis in Education
Wiki spaces seem to be the place to go as a 21st century learner and educator. Visitation rates are astronomical. Participation appears, from the outside looking in, to be very high. A particularily appealing wiki site is http://teachandlearn.sydneyinstitute.wikispaces.net/ This site teaches the "how tos" for current web tools and their applications. It allows the novice a private way of beginning to address the 21st century learners in a venue that today's students are already accostumed to. Creating engaging, attention getting and relevant wiki spaces at first glance seems to be an enormously time consuming endeavor. Accessing the tutorials would make the creation task lighter and practice would of course improve the product. An outstanding product in process can be found at: http://ah-bon-french.wikispaces.com/ Investigating the History tab informs us that every entry in this blog was authored by the teacher. Time invested in this site is unbelievable. Time required is a major concern and disadvantage when considering doing something similar for my classes. I would however consider administrating a site such as this, monitoring student contributions for age appropriateness as well as proficiency level effectiveness. For this school year an ongoing, third year student project could be to contribute to the creation of an engaging wiki by use of various forms of digital media, i.e. slide shows, podcasts, screen casts, etc. eLearning at it's finest.
